Welcome to Waimapu Mill Station Horse Trekking. By booking and participating in our guided treks, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions. Please read these carefully before making a booking.
Booking and Payment
All treks must be booked in advance through our website.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your spot.
We accept online payments through our booking widget.
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled trek will be eligible for a full refund.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the trek are non-refundable.
Waimapu Mill Station (operating on behalf of Keystone Trust) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule treks due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions or safety concerns. In such cases, a full refund or alternative booking will be provided.
Rider Requirements.
Riders bringing their own horses must ensure their animals are fit, healthy, and up to date with worming.
Riders hiring a horse must be experienced and able to control their mount safely in an outdoor trekking environment.
Riders must be at an intermediate or experienced riding level and capable of riding without coaching or assistance.
Riders must follow all instructions given by guides for safety reasons.
Riders are required to wear appropriate safety gear, including helmets and footwear with a heel, which are mandatory.
The minimum age requirement for treks is 12 years old. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and must be able to ride unassisted.
Safety and Liability
Horse riding is an inherently risky activity. While every precaution is taken to ensure safety, all riders participate at their own risk.
Waimapu Mill Station and its staff are not liable for any injuries, accidents, loss, or damage sustained during the trek.
Riders are required to wear appropriate safety gear, including helmets, which are provided for those hiring a horse.
Any rider behaving in a reckless or unsafe manner may be asked to dismount and leave the trek without a refund.
Waimapu Mill Station is a working farm with potential hazards, including but not limited to electric fencing, farm machinery, and uneven terrain. Riders must remain aware of their surroundings and follow all instructions given by guides.
Wild animals may be present on the property and could pose a hazard to horses and riders. Riders must exercise caution and follow guide instructions at all times.
Objects on the property, such as fencing, tools, and farm equipment, may pose risks to horses and riders if not navigated carefully.
By participating, riders acknowledge that Waimapu Mill Station and Keystone Trust accept no liability for injury to riders, horses, or damage to personal property arising from the inherent risks of a working farm environment and equestrian activities.
Horse Welfare
The welfare of our horses is a priority. Riders must treat all horses with respect and follow the guide’s instructions regarding handling and riding.
Mistreatment of horses will not be tolerated.
Property and Conduct
No dogs are allowed on the property for the safety of horses, riders, and livestock.
Smoking, vaping, and alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited on the property.
Visitors must drive and park sensibly, especially when towing horse trailers. The terrain may be uneven, and care should be taken when maneuvering vehicles.
Any damage to vehicles, trailers, or personal property while on the premises is not the liability of Waimapu Mill Station or Keystone Trust.
Weather, Rescheduling and Cancellations
Treks will proceed in most weather conditions; however, extreme weather may result in rescheduling or cancellation for safety reasons. Clients will be encouraged to reschedule their trek.
In case of cancellation due to weather, riders will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
Photography and Media
We may take photos during treks for promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to your image being used in marketing materials.
If you do not wish to be photographed, please notify us before your trek.
Amendments
Waimapu Mill Station reserves the right to update or modify these terms and conditions at any time. The most current version will always be available on our website.
